USA Right now: 63 Mattress Bathtub & Past areas are slated to shut by the top of 2020, together with 1 in Syracuse

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) – A Bed Bath & Beyond location in Syracuse is among 63 stores the company plans to close by the end of this year, according to a USA Today report.

According to USA Today, Bed Bath & Beyond at 3597 W. Genesee St. in Syracuse is one of the stores expected to close in late 2020.

A total of 63 Bed Bath & Beyond locations are to be closed by the end of the year, six of them in New York.

USA Today reports that the decision to close multiple locations is an effort by the company to streamline its business plan.

"As we rebuild our authority and deliver a truly ubiquitous shopping experience to our customers, we recently announced a store optimization plan that will help us build the right store network for our customers," company spokeswoman Jessica Joyce said in a statement to USA TODAY .

This is the first wave of store closures the company plans to do over the next two years. According to USA Today, Bed Bath & Beyond plans to close a total of 200 locations over the next two years.

Once the company completes the 200 planned closings, Bed Bath & Beyond will save between $ 250 million and $ 350 million, according to USA Today.

Most of the closings are in New York and California, with each state closing six Bed Bath & Beyond locations.
