The opportunity to appear in a major movie cost a Boston news anchor her job.
WHDH news anchor Alaina Pinto, who recently appeared in Adam Sandler's Netflix film "Hubie Halloween", announced Thursday that she was fired for breach of contract after appearing in the film.
On a Twitter thread on Thursday, Pinto wrote, "Hi friends! I have some news to share … earlier this week I got fired from 7 messages. I'm posting this because I want to be open and honest with you all. Last year I took part in a cameo in Adam Sandler's recently released Netflix film, Hubie Halloween.
She added, “I mistakenly breached my contract with the station and I understand why management unfortunately terminated me. I am deeply disappointed and sad, and hoped things wouldn't turn out that way. "
Thanking her viewers and supportive colleagues, Pinto said, “It was an honor and a privilege to bring you the news every morning. I promise to keep in touch and keep you updated on the next chapter – the future is bright! "
According to Decider, Pinto is a Harley Quinn-clad newsreader in the film who reports for the fictional news channel "Wake Up Boston" of the film on Halloween.
The film was shot in Salem, Lynnfield, Hamilton, Manchester-by-the-Sea and other parts of Massachusetts as of July 2019, Decider reports.
"Hubie Halloween" debuted on Netflix October 7th and stars as the eccentric volunteer Adam Sandler investigating a murder in Salem on Halloween day.
