Syracuse Police Officer Brandon Hanks receives Mayor’s Achievement Medal

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) — Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announced 18 new deaths due to COVID-19 within the county Wednesday. McMahon said it was the “deadliest day in the pandemic.”

During a Facebook Live Wednesday afternoon, McMahon made the tragic announcement that 18 more Onondaga County residents had passed away due to COVID-19. Five of the deaths were people in a hospital and 13 were from nursing homes. The exact time of death for the nursing home residents is unclear because they were reported by the State Health Department, but Onondaga County said they are assuming the deaths came within the last 24 hours.
