Syracuse Women's Lacrosse climbed two places in Inside Lacrosse's weekly rankings to 2. This is the highest rank the Orange has ever achieved since the Maverik Women's Division I media survey started publishing rankings in 2017. The increase came after the orange had dominated against the then No. 1. 5 Loyola at the season opener with 18: 6. The greyhounds fell to 10th place.

The Orange scored 10 goals in the second half and four Syracuse players finished with a hat trick. Midfielder Sam Swart set a career high with four goals, with Megan Carney and Meaghan Tyrrell each adding three. Emily Hawryschuk also had four goals and six draw controls.

Right above the Orange in first place is North Carolina, which is 3-0 this season. Syracuse is expected to face UNC on April 3, but will play five more games before this match.

Syracuse will also face Stony Brook # 5 for the SU home opener on Saturday and Notre Dame # 4 at home on March 11th and 14th. In between matches against Stony Brook and Notre Dame, SU travels to Duke # 8, who is currently undefeated.

All but two of Syracuse's regular opponents of the season – Albany and Louisville – are currently in the top 20.
