A site at the Utica Memorial Auditorium will open next week, according to a tweet from Melissa DeRosa, an aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Other sites opening this week include Jones Beach in Nassau County on Thursday and a location at the State University of New York Albany on Friday.

More sites opening next week include SUNY Stony Brook on Long Island, SUNY Binghamton property in Johnson City, the Dome Arena near Rochester, Plattsburgh Airport, SUNY Potsdam, University at Buffalo South Campus and the Aqueduct Race Track in Queens.

The state is planning up to 20 mass distribution sites as eligibility for the Covid-19 vaccine expands.

Starting today, millions more people can get the shots, including police officers, firefighters, teachers and other education workers and people age 75 and up. Health care workers and nursing home residents have been eligible for weeks.

With eligibility for shots expanding to about 5 million people total, thousands of pharmacies, doctors’ offices and local health departments will also soon start providing vaccines. Onondaga County has been vaccinating people at the downtown Syracuse War Memorial since December.

A new state website went live this morning that allows eligible New Yorkers to search for vaccine sites. Appointments are required.
