Carl Barber, 71, of Marathon, died Monday, October 12, 2020.

He earned a master’s degree in trombone performance from Syracuse University in 1978. He played trombone professionally in the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, according to his obituary.

He also taught instrumental music in schools and privately. He taught at Rome Academy and more than 30 years at Marathon Central School before retiring.

He continued his piano studies, giving private music lessons and taught at Marathon Christian Academy.

He was an elder at Amber Congregational Church.
